The Jay Fan Fret

Usually I build a lot of fairly simple straight forward guitars, full body, no cutaways and simple ornamentation, not too many extra "features". This one was a very welcome exaption to the rule. It was intended to be simple in terms of appointments. All wood and not alot going on except the shape of the thing itself. That shape though had a lot going on. Extra long fan fret scale to accomodate a modal C tuning, cutaway with micro bevel and micro bevel for the right arm plus round heel to make it extra comfortable and a wood selection of sinker redwood for the top and American black walnut for the back and sides make it a fingerstyle workhorse. It was a first for me for some of these options and I am happy to say it turned out a pleasingly nice guitar to play.
